Cold air and wind make our skin dry, irritated and scaly. The skin is missing moisture, sometimes dryness leads to itching skin. These problems sometimes called Winter Skin Irritation.
“Most of a people come across dryness and itchy skin, but if these problems are severe, you should see a professional”- says Diane Berson, dermatologist from Iris Cantor Women’s Health Center of New York Presbyterian Hospital (USA).Diane Berson recommends thoroughly moisturize the skin in winter, you should apply the moisturizer right after taking a shower, to lock in the moisture.
Here is a few more tips that could help make your dry skin look more like velvety suede and not crocodile skin:
- Use moisturizers every day. For a normal and dry skin creams are better. For sensitive skin, should avoid products containing lanolin and aromatic ads.
- Don’t overdo with hygiene. If you take shower every day, try not using a soap and other cleansers every time. When you wash your skin too intense natural moisturizers are getting removed.
- Less use hot water. If your skin is irritated in winter, try to take warm shower or bath with soft cleansers (better if it is an emulsion of “water in oil”). Massage the skin with light patting movements.
- Humidify the air in the room. Use special humidifiers, just don’t forget to clean the filters on regular bases according to manual (it will help to prevent the growth of fungi).
- Cover your face from the wind. Use a lip balm.
- Protect your skin from the sun. Winter sun could be more harmful then summer. It also leads to premature aging and skin cancer. If you about to spend some time outside, use sunscreen with a protection level of 15 or higher.
- Move more. Only 20-30 min of aerobics 3 times a week is enough to make your skin radiant health.
